graphics are exteremly important to me, rashpal and other ps3 owners- why the fuck do you think i spent £300 on the damn thing??
for me gameplay will always come first- but i dont want to play the game if the graphics are biz..........which they are on FM.

and no-one at SI has ever denied that. Graphics are being worked on, but you have to take into account how many people's PC's can't take the game as it is now. They would lose a lot of customers if they overdo the graphics.

The gameplay is second to none

I will say this topic is stupid because fifa and fm are almost completely different games!

But if i had a choice of playing fm or fifa - fifa wud win every time - and if i cudn't play fifa i'd even rather play PES (which isn't bad - its just not as good as fifa!)

1. Well done. 100% correct.

2. Why? FIFA is unrealistic, AND limits you to 15 seasons? wtf? why? It doesn't have the conference teams, and doesn't have a license for the Football League

FIFA isn't unrealistic - yh the limit seems stupid - but the minimum length of each game u play is 8 mins and since having the games simulated is pointless it means you never get past 5 seasons unless ur obsessed! No one cares about the conference teams - even people who support them still play fifa cos all the games of that type (fifa & pro evo) don't include them! Also EA will of course have deemed the research for conference teams not be cost-effective and by that i mean only like 5 more people would buy it! Not having a license affects almost nothing.

The license makes it look shit.

the people here in the LLM forum - http://www.community.sigames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=19 - only ever play in the lowest league it is possible to play in for the country they selected.

The Match engine (note: unrelated to graphics) is better on FM as well.

Don't forget a lot of people that play FM skip the matches altogether, and just play the game for the gameplay, which is first class

1. How?

2. Surely a game where u can take any league 2 team into the prem is unrealistic?! But anyway they obviously play for the challenge and taking a league 2 team into the prem is something you can try to do - but on legendary wudn't happen unless u really use those 15 seasons - which would mean in total whole weeks or even months of a person's life wud have to b spent on there.

3. For simulating games it probably is - obviously because SI have to concentrate on a lot less than EA so they can do it in more detail. But when it comes to playing the game on fifa - the match engine in fifa is better because of the physics.

4. But on fifa if you skip the matches then you're missing out on the core gameplay element! The gameplay on fifa is also first class - but for different reasons to fm - cos the gameplay in fm is first class as a football manager game.

1. No facepacks, kits or badges
2. Not really, the only other option is to make it impossible, and these people are like FM Gurus. I know i couldn't do it.
3. erm...hard one really. Its hard to tell how good the physics are as the camera is so far away from the pitch
4. another hard one. They are different games, in fact think that calling FM a 'game' is stretching it a bit. Football Manager is a simulation. The next best thing to sending an application form into your local club. FIFA still has too much of that fantasy element for my liking.

and my latest result:
FM v others Soclose

Bastards. I should have beaten the manc cunts Evil or Very Mad

1. What are you on about - fifa has all the kits, badges etc for all the teams in the game (that includes prem to league 2) I think u might be wrong cos i'm sure we hav the license anyway - i think the logo is shown at the start - along with all the other logos for other leagues etc

2. Well at any rate i personally cudn't care less about having conference teams, most people wudn't and the effort that wud b required to put them into the game wud mean time wud b distracting the game from being developed in other areas.

3. The physics on display on fm are shit but the essential bits - e.g. first touhes will b bang on cos i hav no doubt that as a footy simulator and predictor fm is better however thats almost irrelevent cos on fifa u control the players depending on wot game mode u play tho.

4. I agree - but even if it is impossible for u to b controlling ronaldo in real life - its still damn fun which is the whole point of a game.

He's quite good actually. I got him from Leicester for £2.5M. He's a full back who raced forward and blasted walcott's cross home. Foster got a hand to it but couldn't keep it out.

Here's his stats:

Over 30's deteriorate so quickly, Van der shit is not as good as your average conference keeper anymore.

Foster looks decent though. Man utd are now 5 points clear of me Evil or Very Mad

Ian that is unrealistic... how can over 30s deteriorate very quickly???

and anyway i bet you all the money in america that if you played FIFA you would immmediately sell FM and nevere buy it again... unfortunately being who you are, you are just stubborn and will never give it a chance...

I know, it was a serious bug in FM08 that has been toned down in FM09, so that 34 is the max, but 37's just won't play well

The last FIFA i played seriously was FIFA06. I played bits of FIFA07, and I've spent about 20 minutes on FIFA 09, but i just don't like it. Football sims are supposed to be about realism (otherwise what's the point?) and controlling the players just isn't.

ian please listen... you cannot judge FIFA on the computer version... it sucks balls... you have to play it on a proper console... at least the PS2, but the PS3 version much better
and they are far more realistic and better than the pc version, because of the shitty limits of te computer

no it doesnt- why do you think the ps3 version is more expensive- the physics engine is a differnt one so everything which drives the games and how the players respond to your control changes..............maybe you should get your facts right before you try and launch an argument. lol!

You still control the players - so it is therefore just as unrealistic, which is why it shall be staying firmly in its box, and my dvd drive will be staying empty

and you can't call any game with 134,521 forum members shit. clearly some people like it.

Interestingly, at the bottom of the home page of the si forums (www.community.sigames.com) it lists the 8,587 members that were on the site on release day for FM09 at 5.09pm. I'm first out of all 8,587 to be listed lol!
